Visiting Yakima
Where to stay in Yakima. Kid-friendly hotels in Yakima, Washington
I’m not sure what on earth the percentages mean at the Uptake kid-friendly hotels list, because how can a hotel with no pool and yucky, overpriced food POSSIBLY be kid-friendly?
The Investigators from TSI deemed the Comfort Suites as the best hotel for kids in Yakima. In our experience, the Red Lion, the Peppertree Inn and the Ledgestone are also good.
Yakima Valley Museum
The museum on Tieton is fun for kids, they have a “Children’s Underground” which is set up like a small children’s museum. It’s quiet and has plenty of things for kids to explore.
Franklin Park
Adjacent to the Yakima Valley Museum, Franklin Park hosts free concerts every Thursday night in the summer and they also have a seasonal swimming pool. The park hosts the annual Folklife Festival for music and art.
Best Bookstores for Kids in Yakima
Out on a Whim and Inklings are the best independently owned bookstores in town. Check out the decor at out on a Whim and the selection at Inklings (I love the handmade leather journals)
Best Park in Yakima
On the West side of town, Randall Park has a fantastic duck pond. Near downtown, the Greenway winds through town, pick it up at the Sarg Hubbard park.
