Our daughter was competing in a singing competition, the Washington State Nashville Country Star contest and we drove up to Wenatchee from Yakima. Google Maps said the drive would take 2 hours, but we’re in an old 1985 Volkswagen Cabriolet, it took about 3 and a half.

We drove aimlessly through historic downtown Wenatchee. The city is adorable, I loved the riverfront park. We ate lunch at the Lemolo Cafe, which was delightful. I knew when we walked past that I wanted to be inside. It was colorful, funky and health-conscious. Their slogan says “Eat well, be happy” and we did both!

We ordered a Mediterranean Flatbread. It was absolutely delicious. A warm, fresh flatbread with hummus, romaine lettuce, feta cheese, sliced tomatoes, cucumber, red onion and kalmata olives with a nice olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the top. So so so yummy. I loved that they had a million kinds of hot sauce on the table, too.

Free Tasting at Distillery in Cashmere

After lunch, we headed to Cashmere (10 minutes from Wenatchee) to visit the It’s Five o’Clock Somewhere Artisan Distillery. They have hard alcohol tasting. I tasted. I’m not a fan of hard alcohol, unless it’s mixed with fruity things. The still was really cool to see, though.

I think this is the prettiest machine ever

My Grandfather Bill enjoys hard alcohol and always says “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” so I thought of him a lot on this day :)

The area where the distillery is has the most adorable historic downtown, it’s straight out of the 1800′s. Here are a few images of that part of town, I love the moss on the roof. If it wasn’t so cold, i think we could have taken a hundred pictures of Cashmere.

Visiting Wenatchee

One thing we didn’t do, that I didn’t know about until later, was walk on the bridge over the Wenatchee river. Here’s a picture of that:

We’d like to return when it isn’t the middle of winter and enjoy some of the beautiful mountain hiking in the area.
