Free Food for Kids in Yakima
Kids can get free breakfast and lunch at several Yakima schools and parks this summer. ParentHelp123 is a website run by the state, to help low income families find resources that will help them take care of their kids. The free summer meals program, however, isn’t just for low-income kids. From their website:
The Summer Meals Program is one of the federal nutrition programs that provides free meals and snacks to children and teens during the summer months (June through August). Summer meal sites are located in schools, parks, recreation centers, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, and camps. In addition to meals, many sites provide fun activities for kids. Sites may be open from June through August, depending on your community.
All kids and teens (18 years old and younger) are eligible for the program. No proof of income, address or citizenship is ever required.
On their website, you can enter your zip code into the search box to find a location near you.
A few of the locations listed are: McClure Elementary, Milroy park, Davis High School, Kissel Park, Wilson Middle School, Madison House, YPAL, Bethel AME, Barge-Lincoln, Washington Middle School, Southeast Community Center, Adams Elementary, Union Gap School, Wapato High School, Buena Community Center, Wilbur memorial United Methodist Church, Kirkwood Elementary School, Toppenish Middle School, Toppenish Community Chest, Yakama Christian Mission and I only go tot page 2 of the 4 pages of search results, but these are kinda far from Yakima anyway.
