If you’re looking to take swing dancing classes in Yakima, you’re in good company. Yakima has several swing dancing groups, and oportunities to go swing dancing several times a month in Yakima’s West side, Terrace Heights and throughout the Yakima Valley and in Ellensburg.
Swing Dancing at the Terrace Heights Grange
The Dance Syndicate of Yakima offers a monthly Lindy Friday for Ages 17 and up. Lessons begin at 8pm and the dance is from 9-11 pm. One Friday a month, an East Coast Swing Dance lesson is taught at 8pm and the dance runs from 9pm-11pm for ages 13 and over at the Terrace Heights Grange. Members of the Dance Syndicate have branched out to also offer lessons at the Glenwood Square Shopping Center on Wednesday nights. Beginner’s classes are from 7-8pm for $10 and the dance is $5 from 8-10pm.
Private Swing Dancing Lessons in Yakima
Northwest Swingout offers private swing dancing lessons for couples and individuals, they also offer private swing dancing lessons for groups. Groups can hire NW Swingout for church dances, parties, clubs and other events. Studio West, in the Nob Hill Plaza also offers private lessons, by arrangement with instructors,

NorthWest Swingout offers dance choreography, for a wedding dance or any other event. They also have specialized performances. NW Swingout specializes in Lindy Hop, Charleston, East Coast Swing, Triple Step East Coast, Waltz and Fox Trot.
Ellensburg Swing Dancing Lessons
Every Monday during the school year, the CWU Swing Cats hosts two lessons and a dance from 6-10pm. The Dance Syndicate of Yakima can help coordinate carpools from Yakima, if requested. Check the website for the Dance Syndicate and email for more information.

The 4th annual Naches Jazz Band Swing Dance will be held Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Harman Center in Yakima. This annual eent features live music by the Naches Valley High School Jazz Band, an amazing group of musicians who hve received top scores in all of their performance competitions. The evening begins at 7pm with swing dance lessons provided by a dance instructor for anyone who is interested in learning how to swin dance. Then, at 8:00pm the actual danc will begin with the jazz band sharing the big sounds of jazz and swing for all to enjoy. Whether you’re a swing dancer or just really enjoy good jazz music, this event is for you. Refreshments will be provided, featuring a chocolate fountain! A silent auction will be held throughout the night with some amazing prizes up for bid. Tickets re $10/singles or $17 for couples. All proceeds from this event go to support the Naches High School Music Program, who are planning a trip to Whilster Canada later this spring for a music competition.
